PARALINE (Artemether 80mg/1ml)
Artemether is a medication used for the treatment of malaria. The injectable form is specifically used for severe malaria rather than quinine and given by injection in a muscle.
Indication/Treatment: Treatment of severe P.falciparum malaria in areas where quinine is ineffective. Radical cure should then be effected with a full dose of an effective antimalarial.
Contra-indications: First trimester of pregnancy.
Adverse/Side-effect: Abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, alopecia, headache, tinnitus, dizziness, neutropenia, elevated liver enzyme value, cardiotoxicity (after high dose) Etc.
